Oracle APEX Part 5 - Make field read- only in APEX

 To change a field to "Display Only" in Oracle APEX, follow these steps:

Step 1: Log in to Oracle APEX

1. Open your web browser and navigate to your Oracle APEX instance.
2. Log in with your workspace credentials.

Step 2: Open Your Application

1. Click on App Builder.
2. Select the application containing the page with the field you want to modify.

Step 3: Open the Page

1. In the Application Builder, locate and click on the page that contains the field you want to change.
   
   
   

Step 4: Locate the Field

1. In the Page Designer, find the Rendering pane on the left.
2. Locate the field (item) you want to change to "Display Only" within the relevant region (e.g., form region, report region).

Step 5: Change the Field to Display Only

1. Click on the field (item) to select it.
2. In the Property Editor on the right side, find the Type property.
3. Change the Type from its current value (e.g., Text Field, Select List) to Display Only.

Step 6: Adjust Other Properties (Optional)

• You may want to adjust other properties such as Label, Width, or CSS Classes to fit your layout needs.

Step 7: Save and Run

1. Click the Save button to apply your changes.
2. Click the Run button (play icon) to preview the page and confirm that the field now displays as "Display Only".

Conclusion

The field should now be set to "Display Only", meaning users can view the information but cannot edit it.
